Initiation to Theater
In addition to citizenship education, APEC offers an initiation to theater as a form of cultural expression.
Our Goals
- Provide a physical and emotional escape for youth seeking a different kind of outlet.
- Create a peaceful space for socializing and freedom away from societal violence.
- Encourage the expression of body language.
- Promote self-confidence while fostering respect for the opinions of others.
- Enhance the level of general culture among the youth.
Results
Theater has proven to be an effective tool in achieving these goals.
Our observations have shown that:
- Youth become more confident and free to express themselves physically
- Girls and boys are comfortable in mixed spaces, and communication is more open.
- Theater frees up thoughts and emotions, leading to a decline in verbal violence.
- The discipline and diligence required in theatrical performances also lead to the development of analytical thought among participating youth.
