About APEC

The inception of the Association for the Promotion of Civic Education (APEC) in 2012 marked a significant milestone in providing a platform for free expression among young people. Its primary objective has been to create an avenue where adolescents aged between 15 and 19 can voice their opinions without reservation, restrictions, or societal taboos. The organization has been instrumental in organizing weekly debates from October to June each year, bringing together young people from peri-urban and rural areas in Youth Centers.

In the 2021/22 season, APEC augmented its existing programs by incorporating a novel initiative, APEC CULTURE, aimed at cultivating artistic expression through theater among young people. This program has since been an immense success, fostering creativity and providing an alternative avenue for self-expression to teenagers.

This year, APEC is introducing a pilot project, APEC DIGITAL, focused on connecting young people to digital skills. In today’s world, where technology plays a crucial role in every aspect of our lives, this initiative could not have come at a more opportune time. The program seeks to equip young people with the necessary skills to navigate the digital space confidently and safely.
APEC’s partnership agreement with the Ministry of Youth has been fundamental in achieving our goal of reaching our target population without any censorship. We remain committed to providing a platform for free speech, artistic expression, and digital education for young people across peri-urban and rural communities.
